Bottle Rocket Blast Off!!!

Kia ora bloggers, Te Ngahere has recently been doing activities about bottle rockets. We were reading and writing about bottle rockets and we also created bottle rockets. For writing we were learning to use structure and language features of an explanation. The purpose of this type of writing was to explain how forces cause bottle rockets to fly. A couple of weeks ago we did T-shape Literacy on the same topic (bottle rockets). We are also modifying our bottle rockets and I am having a great time. I have learnt from my experience that hot glue is not strong enough by it self to hold the fins on. I learnt that thrust is the force that pushes the bottle rocket into the air. I also learnt that the weight is the water that is used to help the rocket fly straight. Something else I learnt was that drag is the gravitational force that pulls the rocket down. Something I learnt is that a parachute helps bottle rockets land safely. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. Here is a video of some students who launched their bottle rocket. Movie Accomplished

Kia ora bloggers, in Te Ngahere we have been filming movies. A few weeks ago I posted a blog post about movie making but I have finally finished filming my movie. I wanted to post my movie on my blog so you could watch it. Something I enjoyed while filming my movie was spending time with my friends. This helped us while filming our movie. Something I could do better next time is stay on task and stop mucking around. It was hard for me to stay on task while another group was watching us film our movie but at least we tried. Something I would change next time is the topic of our movie. I would love to make movies again in the same group. If you want to watch our movie here it is. Have you made movies before? Let Me Teach You About Equivevalent Fractions

Kia ora bloggers and welcome back to another blog post, today I will be teaching you about equivalent fractions. We have been learning about equivalent fractions in Te Ngahere. I learned that equivalent fractions have the same value. Did you know equivalent means the same as? Whaea Chrissy gave us a paper copy and we had to match the same group of fractions together. For example 8/8 are the same as 5/5 which are whole numbers because both the denominator and numerator are the same numbers. We were learning this to find the equivalent number to a fraction. Have you learned about equivalent fractions? If this isn’t enough information here is my maths DLO. I hope you learned something new.

Rocket Blast Off!

Kia ora bloggers, for the last couple of weeks Te Ngahere has been building rockets. Every Wednesday Troy and Gustavo would come to Te Ngahere to teach us about rockets. I learned that thrust is used to overcome the weight of the rocket. Thrust connects with Newton's third law of motion which is about equal and opposite reactions. I enjoyed building my rocket with my group but what I could do better next time is to contribute more. Some variables we could change would be to secure the fins better and do a stability test. Out Of This Worlds Best Tips For Your Chromebook

Recently Te Ngahere has been re-learning the kawa of care. I learned how important following the kawa of care is. Following the kawa of care is so important because if you accidently break your chromebook you may get insurance but if you break the kawa of care rules then you won’t. Beginners Guide: Te Reo

Kia ora, Welcome back to my blog. Our class has learned to write simple sentences in Maori. We were learning to pronounce Maori words properly. I like learning Te Reo Maori as it helps me to connect more with my culture. We wrote sentences about what sports you can play on the sports field. I had an awesome time learning different sports you can play on the field in Maori. I learnt the Maori word for rugby is whutupaoro. I also learnt the Maori word for soccer is poikiri. Movie Making

 In Te Ngahere we have been working on short films for a film festival. Our films have to be 3 minutes long. We had different categories to pick what we wanted our movie to be about such as action, comedy, educational, sport, adverts, music, game shows, etc. Our films have to be suitable for juniors to watch. I love the role I am in our film because I get to be a mean girl. One of our films will be selected to go to the film festival which was held at the Cathay Cinemas in KeriKeri. I am so excited and very confident to be able to partake in a movie that might be sent to the Cathay Cinemas in Kerikeri. People will also be selected to go watch the films but if they were unlucky to go they can see the movie at the cinemas. Have you made a film to go to the film festival before?
