Terrific Te Reo

Hello. This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning how to pronounce our Maori language properly. We have currently been on this app called education perfect where we practise te reo Maori.

We have different options of Maori subjects that we can learn in Maori but for our screencast we only had to screencastify the alphabet, greetings, and place names in te reo.

We had to create a D.L.O showing our evidence. This was awesome because I learnt different things in Maori. I will link an example down below. Have you been on education perfect before? I hope you enjoyed.

Smart Surfing Search

Kia ora, in Te Ngahere we have been doing learning around the web. We call it smart surfing. Smart surfing is when you find keywords in a sentence. We are trying to eliminate why or how or any question starter. If you search the web with for example a whole sentence that might be, what do spiders eat you try and eliminate any words beside the key words. For example: what do spiders eat? You would only be left with spiders eat or in other words spiders diet which are the keywords. This is really helpful because it gives information that you’re actually searching for. I am really looking forward to using keywords on my web searches more often. Do you use only keywords while you’re searching something?

Coastal Seas

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been learning about coastal seas. We watched a documentary about coastal seas where we got information about sea life and sea creatures. While watching the video we had to write information down about what we saw on the documentary. I learnt about new marine animals and the purpose they have in marine life. I learnt that sharks are actually important to the reef because they help balance the reef by feeding on the fish so it won’t over grow. When the video was finished we had to create a D.L.O showing 10 or more facts about what we learnt. If you want to learn about coastal sea my D.L.O will be down below.

Step by Step Guide using Written Algorithm

Kia ora. In the last few weeks we have been learning in different areas around math. To show what we have learned we evidence our work by creating D.L.O’s ( Digital Learning Objects) that show a step by step process of how our strategy is used. The strategy I used first was written algorithm but I already knew how to do it so I moved on to step 8 word problems using algorithm. I didn’t create a DLO about the word problems so the DLO at the end is about using written algorithm to solve addition and subtraction problems. I learned how to use percentages because in some questions have percentages and I re-learned how to do something I already knew. Something I could do better next time is to learn something different and difficult so I learn something new.
Do you know how to use algorithm?
