Bottle Rocket Blast Off!!!

Kia ora bloggers, Te Ngahere has recently been doing activities about bottle rockets. We were reading and writing about bottle rockets and we also created bottle rockets. For writing we were learning to use structure and language features of an explanation. The purpose of this type of writing was to explain how forces cause bottle rockets to fly. A couple of weeks ago we did T-shape Literacy on the same topic (bottle rockets). We are also modifying our bottle rockets and I am having a great time. I have learnt from my experience that hot glue is not strong enough by it self to hold the fins on. I learnt that thrust is the force that pushes the bottle rocket into the air. I also learnt that the weight is the water that is used to help the rocket fly straight. Something else I learnt was that drag is the gravitational force that pulls the rocket down. Something I learnt is that a parachute helps bottle rockets land safely. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. Here is a video of some students who launched their bottle rocket. I hope you learnt something new.
Ka kite!
