Awesome athletics

Yesterday we had athletics. There are five groups, team tahi, team rua, team turu, team wha and team rima. I am in team rima and yesterday we did high jump. On Friday it is athletics but we are only practising. We have been practising for a couple of weeks now. I can’t really jump high in high jump but I enjoy it. I really enjoy long jump and I think I am good at long jump. I try really hard in athletics especially in relays. I think relays are really hard but I still try my best. I am really scared but I will try my best and use my four hoe to achieve my goals. I am really hoping I do good but athletics isn’t a winning sport it’s a sport to have fun in. I hope you learnt that athletics is just to try your best and have fun and I hope you enjoyed.

Fantastic blog about the Film Festival

Last week on Wednesday a couple of year 5 and 6 students including me had an opportunity to go to the Kawakawa film festival. We all gathered up after tuakana hui and we walked down to the bus. We went to the Kawakawa Primary School hall. There were two girls who went to Kawakawa School who explained what was happening and a little bit about the film festival. We got told that the film festival was going to be at least one hour long but it went by fast. The first film was one of Paihia Schools films in Te Maunga. A couple of films later there was another film from Paihia School called Life About Nerds and that was my brothers film. And a couple of films later it was finally the last film. After we watched it most of us were saying they saved the best for last because it was the best. The last film was Boy and it was really funny. The film festival wasn’t really long. I wish I went back at the six o,clock one because I really wanted to see boy again. We had another movie night at Paihia School on the last day without the year seven and eights. If you want to know about that stay on my blog or come onto it daily. Did you go to the film festival and what was your favourite film?

Interesting facts I bet you never knew about

Yesterday Whaea Gina came into Te Ngahere and taught us about healthy eating. This was really just about going over the things we have already learnt. Whaea Gina also brought two ladies who came in. I am sorry but this was the first time I had seen the ladies and I forgot their names. I was really excited and I started shouting out. There were four food groups, grain foods, meat and meat alternatives, vegetables and fruit, and milk and milk products. Grain foods mean to go, meat and meat alternatives mean to grow, vegetables and fruit mean to glow and milk and milk products mean whakatupu (grow). Grain foods are great in the morning such as brown bread or weetbix. Why I said brown bread is because it is healthier than white bread. Sometimes people won’t eat rice in the morning but it is great in lunch but if you want to eat healthier go for the brown rice. Whaea Gina said to have at least 2 foods out of the food groups in our lunches. After that the two woman Whaea Gina brought gave use a survey. Here is a slide show about what we Learnt.

Tips about Tuia 250 Flotila

Kia ora. Last Friday I went to the Tuia 250 flotilla with my family. The Tuia 250 flotilla was a re-creation of the endeavor coming to New Zealand and it has been 250 years since Captain Cook sailed here. On Thursday we saw the waka (Ngatokimatawhaorua) come in. On Friday we woke up really early and we saw the boats and waka come in. It was amazing. A couple of minutes after that we went back home and we went to get some food and drinks. When we finished we rushed to the marae so we could see the powhiri. The powhiri was amazing. It was amazing how hard they went in their haka and it inspired me to go hard in kapa haka. Then we looked at the waka. There was another ceremonial waka and you could see how small the waka was to Ngatokimatawhaorua. I took a video of the waka and the boats. After that we walked home. I hope you enjoyed my blog post.

Duffy Show

Kia ora everyone, last week there was a Duffy Show. Everyone was entertained. They sang the duffy song and they put a show together and shared their show with all of Paihia School. The show was about Duffy (Dillan) playing a video game and he got to go to Sam’s (Duffy’s cousin) house. Sam and Duffy were both obsessed with video games. When Duffy arrived at Sam’s house all she wanted to do was play video games. Duffy reminded her about what they did when they were younger but Sam just ignored him while Sam’s mum was welcoming. After a while Duffy tried on their Nana’s glasses and then Duffy got sucked into the game. When he got sucked into the game Sam was trying to get him out but then she got sucked into the game too. She brought her nana’s book and they found out that her nan was an engineer and their nana’s book helped them get out. I hope you liked my blog post about the Duffy Show. Bye
