Tidy Numbers

Kia ora, mihi nui kia koe. In Te Ngahere we have been doing math, for math we have been re-learning tidy numbers. We had different equations we had to figure out. I struggled a little bit doing this activity because of the holidays but I started to remember how to round numbers. What I learnt is if you learn how to round numbers it could help at the store whenever buying groceries. Whaea Chrissy taught us an easy strategy to use and it helped me and my group to figure out the equations. This also helped me with my multiplication as they are multiplication questions. Something I could do better next time is stay focused more because we talk off topic and not about work sometimes. Have you rounded numbers or are you learning how to round numbers? Te Ngahere Version Of Tik Tok

Kia ora koutou, Mihi nui kia koe. In this blog post I am going to be talking about our assembly and what we did for it. Read on and you’ll find out what we did and watch the video because you will be amazed if you watch the video. Last week for our assembly we did tik toks. We did 2 tik toks and we made them into a huge routine. I had heaps of fun and appreciate the 2 girls who taught us the tik tok dances and also the teachers who approved on letting us do them. I am sure heaps of people had fun as I did and I am positive heaps of people enjoyed watching us do them. I wish we got another opportunity to do something as fun. I learnt a new tik tok dance and it was fun learning it. We changed bits of the dance to make it more suitable for the children at our school. Something I could do better next time is to keep on beat. Here is the video. Hope you enjoyed.

My Most Amazing Creativity To Share about my Drawbridge Challenge

Kia ora e hoa, we have been making a drawbridge for a drawbridge challenge. We had to create a circuit for a ping pong ball or marble to travel. I learnt what a drawbridge is. A drawbridge is a bridge that is hinged at one end so that it may lift to prevent people to cross it and to let vessels pass under it. This is a very fun activity but it involves a hot glue gun so I don’t recommend it for young kids, it might blow up in their/your hand. I have experienced seeing it. So far my group and I have made the base and almost two full sides. Next time I could stop making everything perfect and try to get it done. I hope you learnt something new and I hope you liked this blog post.

Pou Pou Art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing art. For art we have been doing Pou Pou/Pou. Pou are carving that are normally found in a marae, they represent IwI/tribes or in other words they are a sign that marks territorial boundaries or places of significance that are carved by maori. They are made out of wood but we drew them on paper and colored them in with pastel. My theme was rainbow and I accomplished it. I used more warm colors then cold colors but when I am completely finished it would sort of be even between the mix. I learnt what pou meant and actually were because I had no idea what they were. My teacher Whaea Barbara also learnt something new. She learnt woman/girls don’t poke their tongues out. Here is a photo of my pou but it’s not completely done and it is very messy.

Fractions

Today in Te Ngahere I was doing fractions. I was doing sort of a quiz. We were turning fractions into decimals. There were 4 options to choose from and we had to choose the right one and there were 10 questions to answer. I had trouble at the start but then I got used to it and started getting the hang of working out the questions. The method I used was making the denominator a multiple of 10. Then you take your numerator and multiple it by the answer. For example if you have 8/25 you would multiple 25 (denominator) by 10 which would be 4. Then you multiple 4 by 8 (numerator) which = 0.32. And that is how you turn fractions into decimals. Here is a link to my slideshow if you don’t understand.

What I learnt from Te Ngahere Summer Learning Journey

On Wednesday the 15th of April we had an assignment to do. The assignment was the Summer Learning Journey. Our Teachers Whaea Chrissy and Whaea Shanna created a presentation and it was our job to fill it out. The first activity we had to do was to choose countries to visit between Australia, Japan, Qatar, South Africa, Mexico, Malaysia, Canada, Chile, Germany and England. I chose Japan because it seems safe, It is illegal to Drink in public and if your a woman it is safe to walk around by yourself and those reasons make Japan a safe happy place. We had to complete 2 activities plus a bonus activity which gained you 5 points. The first activity was to choose a country and write 2 reasons why you would like to visit the country. The second activity was to write three things that were not listed on the following doc the teachers had added to help us learn about the countries. The bonus activity was to write a letter to a friend or family member telling them where you are going how long you will be gone for and invite them if you wanted to. Mind blowing facts about digital dig.

Today I am going to talk about my digital dig. I will also be talking about what I have learnt and what I had already knew. We have been learning new and old shortcuts. We have made a whole presentation about digital dig. We have added what we are looking forward to this year and much more. I have learnt so much such as the address/omni bar. Sometimes I sat by my friends while trying to complete the presentation and talked to my friends. I hope you also learn new things or review things you have learnt before but you may have forgot.
